Nanluogu Lane is one of the famous Hutongs (narrow alleyways) of Beijing. Strolling around this area, you will see numerous shops selling various kinds of interesting items. Teedy Bear is situated near the Back Lake.
I noticed the tiny shop by the number of young clients going in and out. Near the entrance, bear toys set in various poses welcome the customers. Cute.
At the center of the place, a tall display table with three shelves. Around it, big bear toys displayed on racks. On the center table five bear couples posed, dressed in various styles: Korean clothes, Western bridal gowns, traditional Chinese clothing, and bed gown. This kind of bear toys have been made popular in China by famous Korean soap opera titled Palace.
I talked to the shop owner, and he told me some of the toys were made in Guangzhou, and some imported from Korean and the US. Wow! China imports US toys! Big discovery¡.
I picked up a deep brown bear with no dress, priced at RMB 65. It felt light and soft. Made in China, Guangzhou. The shop owner directed my attention to a light yellow bear dressed in a traditional Chinese costume, selling for RMB 238. Compared with the one I had selected before, this toy was heavier.
Prices ranged from RMB 40 to RMB 500. Bargaining was not an option.
What I appreciated: Bear toy dressed in traditional Chinese style
What customers appreciate: Cute design, good quality
