Buying Clothes at Wholesale Prices

Located near the Beijing Zoo, Shijitianle wholesale market is very well known to locals for its huge selection of clothing at discount prices.

With four floors full of stalls, the place is absolutely huge. The 1st and 2nd floor offers mainly attire for young women, such as jeans and dresses. I visited a stall that specializes in traditional Chinese attire, and picked out a frock that costs about RMB 120 after haggling. Made from mainly cotton and silk, this frock would price at well over RMB 200 at malls and department stores.

The 3rd floor offers men’s wear, while the 4th floor offers clothes for older women. There is also a basement, where you can find various kinds of shoes.

Please note that all prices can be further bargained, sometimes by quite a bit. Apart from my own experience, I saw a fellow shopper who took home a pair of shoes for RMB 25. The label price was RMB 50.

So make sure you haggle!
