Ride folding bikes to save parking space

Even with Beijing’s development in roads and public transportation, sometimes the best way to travel is still by riding a bicycle. Dahon, an American brand with four shops in Beijing, offers high quality bicycles manufactured in China.

One of its four outlet can be found near the east North 3rd Ring Rd. Inside are bikes for all demographics. The shop assistant tells me that young guys like sports bikes. While old people or girls prefer Dahon folding bikes for its easy portability.

The usual Dahon bicycle size ranges from 12’ to 26’. According to the shop assistant who could not speak English, they offer seven types of bikes, including travelling bikes (旅游车), city bikes (城市车), and electronic bikes (电动车). She recommended a pink folding bike for RMB 1559. This small bike has a size of 12’ and mainly used as a transportation tool to nearby places. You can also buy matching accessories, like bike-carrying bag, helmets, gloves, and locks.

Prices for different bikes range from RMB 600 to RMB 5000. Add-ons costs between RMB 100 and RMB 800. There is no bargaining or discounts.
