Located north of the East 4th Ring Road, Jialong Hardwood Furniture shop specializes in hardwood (mostly mahogany) furniture using designs from ancient times. As I entered the store, was deeply drawn by its intricate designs and the quality of wood.
The shop assistant, also a professional furniture maker, showed me around the shop. He chatted about the 33 kinds of mahogany and other woods they use.
Jialong Hardwood Furniture designs all of their furniture in Ming and Qing Dynasty styles, which feature subtle elegance. Their selection includes beds, tables, book cabinets, and chairs. I was especially interested in a large mahogany book cabinet. Unfortunately, the RMB 13,000 price tag was too rich for my blood.
In general, the prices ranged from RMB 5000 to RMB 100,000. You might be able to bargain a bit on the prices, but I won't guarantee anything. The assistant did not speak English, so any bargaining would require pen and paper.
What I appreciated: Mahogany book cabinet
What customers appreciate: High quality furniture
