Hush Puppies in Beijing

“Hush Puppies”, a well-known U.S. brand originated in 1958, set up a shop in the Huayu Shopping Mall of Beijing. Today, its exclusive agent runs several chain stores in Beijing's malls like Shuang’an Plaza, and An’zhen Plaza.

I visited the shop in Huayu. Lying near the elevator, it is decorated as a warm American home: white fireplace, white bookcase, two cane chairs, family pictures hanging on the wall, exquisite chinaware, and cute puppy toys.

According to the shop assistant, their merchandise is designed in the US, and manufactured in China.

A majority of the garment are made in cotton and silk. Their leather shoes are made in quality cowhide. Their full collection features leather garments. “Hush Puppies” was traditionally a brand for men’s wear. It has been offering women’s wear and shoes for the last three years.

Prices range from RMB 200 to RMB 600. VIP membership is awarded to clients who spent RMB 3000 at “Hush Puppies” once.
