To dress for formal occasions

Compared with the lady’s apparel area, men’s wear area was more soothing and quiet at Zhongyou shopping mall’s 2nd floor. So I had more time to examine the various brands available. After looking through the section, I found the American brand Santa Barbara the most attractive.

The shop’s merchandises were displayed orderly and neatly when I arrived. They focused on formal business suits, dress shirts, straps, and scarves, according to a polite assistant. Although designed in the US, these elegant garments are made in Guangzhou.

The most attractive items among their garments were the dress shirts. Santa Barbara dress shirts looked thick and warm, and made with 100% cotton. They were designed for men 170cm – 190cm (5-6 to 6-3) tall. A close examination of one shirt showed very good stitching at the collar, cuffs, and front buttons. I preferred the dark-blue with white stripes design myself. The shop assistant concurred, and told me that most customers also preferred darker hues like the one I picked.

Prices for dress shirts ranged from RMB 500 to RMB 700, while business suits had RMB 2000 to RMB 5000 price tags. For the coming Spring Festival, the merchandises were on sale at 30% ~ 70% discounts. The shop assistants could speak a little bit English.
