Shan Xi province is located in the middle course of the Yellow River, famous for its rich soil nutrition value of their local products such as Chinese date, walnut, millet, and raisins. Near the north entrance of the Xuan Wu Park, there is a Shan Xi Specialty store that offers these delicious products in Beijing. The products sold inside are all ¡°specialty¡± items, transported directly from the rich fields of Shan Xi. The most popular products inside are Shan Xi vinegar (around RMB 20) and Fen Jiu (around RMB 100), a Shan Xi liquor. Both offer various types of packaging for personal use or as gifts. Also worth recommending are their Chinese dates, or jujube in Chinese, which cost RMB 30-50 per bag. These dates are usually twice as big as other kinds of dates on the market. They¡¯re also quite popular. One lady bought three big bags! Besides the native products, the store also makes Shan Xi snacks from scratch. One that attracted my attention was the Shi Tou Bing, or stone pancake (RMB 10). Look out your teeth when you eat them, because the name is not a joke. What I appreciate: Fresh snacks, Chinese date What customers appreciate: Vinegar, Local alcoholic drinks, variety
