Located on the East North 3rd Ring, Yuyuanhou offers a large selection of teas with a traditional taste.
As a tea afficianado, I was attracted by its price list at the entrance, which were very good. They had puer tea for RMB 20 ~ 30 (50g), jasmine tea for RMB 10 ~ 50 (50g), and chrysanthemum tea for RMB 10 (50g).
According to the shop owner, the jasmine tea is the most popular tea at the shop. While Tieguanyin has become more popular among Beijing¡¯s tea afficionados, especially this autumn. The prices for their teas range from RMB 10 to RMB 100 per 50g.
The center of the shop featured teapots and gift boxes. The prices for teapot sets ranged from RMB 100 to RMB 1000. The owner recommended me a teapot gift box consisted of a teapot and three tea cups, made of red stoneware in Yixing (RMB 168). If I had not already owned a tea set, I would've seriously considered it.
Alhough the shop owner cannot speak English, he has his own methods to communicate with English speakers. As for me, I walked out with my usual Tieguanyin tea.
What I appreciated: Tieguanyin Tea
What customers appreciate: Jasmine Tea at different levels of prices
