Pubs in Beijing are plentiful, but few are like the Secret Garden Bar in the bustling Sanlintun area.
The owner welcomed me to his beautiful garden in front of the pub. Shades created by creepers, clear water trickling from rockery, wooden wing armchairs covered by beach umbrellas, and subtle flower scents atmosphere all invite stepping in. Although no longer much of a secret to the locals, I was still enthralled by the sight.
The pub serves a wide variety of wines, cocktails, brandy, whisky, beers, juices, teas, coffees, and ice creams. Their products come from all over world, including France, US, Chile, and Uganda. Our bartender suggests Tube and Tianyuan Ganlu for drinks (both are wines), and Mango Xuening - a type of ice cream, for dessert. He also says that a highlight of the pub is that they offer 31 flavors of U.S. ice creams.
I also loved the interior decorations too. A piano lies on the podium, together with a phonograph on top. Large paintings hang on the walls together to contribute to a soothing atmosphere. Guests sit on large red sofas, which certainly feel very relaxing.
The prices are affordable: wines cost from RMB 298 to RMB 998; ice creams and juices from RMB 20 to RMB 60. Become a member and get a discount.
