Fortune cats are believed to bring fortune and health to the family in Japan. Now this Japanese mascot has grabbed a piece of China's gift market not only by being a bringer of wealth, but also by its cute and honest looks.
Happy Cats House is a gift shop which sells fortune cat items exclusively. Even so, the selection is amazing. The shop is filled with every little gifts and accessories imaginable. Some items I particularly liked were a cat pocket-mirror, to cat pen-box, cat paper fan, and cat porcelain cups.
However, the most interesting item was the customized mix-and-match wind bells. You could choose different shapes and colors of porcelain cats. Like red cat to dispel diseases, white cat to bring lucky, purple cat wishing for growing beautifully and yellow cat to bless you a good marriage. It usually takes 15 ¨C 20 little cats and 1 ¨C 3 medium cats to compose a wind-bell. Little cats cost RMB 5 each and medium cats RMB 25.
Bargain is not customary, but the shop offers 10 percent off for all items. And if you are lucky, you may chance upon a half-price sale. Prices range from small RMB 12 cat purse to a huge porcelain cat saving box for RMB 4000.
