A well-known traditional costume shop, Red Phoenix, opened 9 years ago in the Sanlitun area. The shop distinguish itself for its stylish design¡ªa blend of modern and traditional styles.
The shop carries sorts of traditional costumes with different patterns, colors, and details. Those costumes are all designed and cut by the owner Gu Lin. The highlight of Red Phoenix is the elaborate and hand-worked embroidery section. There are various embroidered patterns: dragons, fish, roses, peonies, etc.
Prices for clothes in the shop range from RMB 500 for a plain jacket to RMB 10, 000 for a richly ornamented gown. All its clothes are made to order. You can use either one of many designs on display, or you can ask the shop assistants to help you create your own design. The costumes take at least 2 weeks to complete.
